IGBT Motor Controller

High-Efficiency IGBT BLDC Motor Controller

As part of the Montana State University Solar Vehicle Project, Dr. Caditz, with the help of power electronics expert Dr. Giri Venkataramanan, designed and built several high-efficiency and compact brushless DC motor controllers. These controllers are based on Powerex IGBT intelligetn power modules and a UC3625 BLDC controller integrated circuit and can handle 100 amps at 600 volts. The controllers were used to succesfully operate the MSU solar car in thousands of miles of testing and racing with zero failures. The controllers are notable for their reliability, efficiency, compact size, and light weight.
